Residential Tile Installation
Kitchens, entryways, hallways, and living spaces across Littleton and the Denver south suburbs.
What Residential Tile Installation Involves
Residential tile work covers any tiled surface that is not a wet area. That means kitchen floors, kitchen backsplashes, entryways, mudrooms, hallways, laundry rooms, and living area flooring transitions. We work in occupied homes, which means we take jobsite protection seriously. Furniture gets moved and padded, dust barriers go up where work areas meet living areas, and debris leaves the house daily.
The materials we install most frequently in residential settings are large-format porcelain (12x24, 24x24, 24x48 inch formats), standard porcelain and ceramic floor and wall tile, natural stone including marble, travertine, and slate, and decorative cement tile for accent applications. Each material has a different mortar requirement, a different trowel size, and a different grouting approach. We do not use a one-size-fits-all method.
Large-format tiles in particular require a back-buttered application and a flat substrate. Any variation in the floor exceeding 1/8 inch over a 10-foot span needs to be addressed before tile goes down. We flatten high spots and fill low areas with floor leveler as part of the prep scope, not as an afterthought.
How a Residential Tile Job Works
Walkthrough and Estimate
We visit the space, measure the area, assess the substrate condition, and discuss tile selection and layout direction. You receive a written estimate within a few days that breaks down every line item.
Substrate Preparation
Existing flooring comes up if needed. The subfloor is checked for deflection, high spots are ground down, low spots are leveled. On wood subfloors we install cement backer board or a decoupling membrane before any tile goes down.
Layout and Dry-Lay
We snap chalk lines to find the true center of the room and dry-lay the tile without mortar to confirm the pattern reads correctly from the primary viewpoints. We adjust before committing to thin-set.
Setting, Grouting, and Sealing
Tile is set in the appropriate thin-set mortar for the material. After adequate cure time, grout is applied and cleaned. Natural stone and unglazed tile gets a penetrating sealer. We do a final walk-through with you before we pack up.
Where We Work
Residential tile installation is available across our service area. Each of these communities has a different housing stock, and we adjust our approach accordingly.
